A great night.
Yes, I was there too. And I never was someone who did a tour at a time. I just finished high school and was getting ready for college at Indiana University, but we drove from Chicago to Foxboro, where our car broke dowm before the 7/2/89 sho but by maybe the next morning (I think we actually sleep outside of the garage), easy fix, so on 7/3, we're thinking we have to get from Foxboro to Buffalo. And to meet up with our friends. Ended up, never saw our hometown friends again, except at home 2 days later. I'm sure we all have some crazy stories like this re: Dead Shows. I'd love to hear them. Peace, -Nick

reviews are so subjective aren`t they?
I am amused by the lower ratings of this show. The audio is quality. It is part of the archive collection for some reason. NFA from this show, was used as part of the latest GD movie 2012. Apparently the remaining members of the GD are satisfied with it. As well, Jerry and Brent looked so happy and played wonderfully on the NFA footage.

Looks Like Rain . . . .
It was a sunny day, but it started raining when Bobby sang out "It looks like rain . . . .".
Now I'm going to go listen to the show for the first time since 1989!!!! Thanks tapers. Hug . . . . = )

Actually 10,000 Maniacs opened, not CSN.
CSN opened the following year. It was a fairly good show. Deal & Watchtower had Jerry rocking' his heart out. Also the interplay between him and Brent during NFA was particularly good. I went in early to see 10,000 Maniacs. there were only about 100 people.

1990 was Better
Just my opionion - but I thought the following year at Rich Stadium (not the place to see the boys) was better.
It certainly seemed like the '86 show was more than 3 years prior to this one at the time. I would guess much of that had to do with Jerry's improved health. Still - having played at Silver Stadium in Rochester in '87 and '88 - Rich Stadium seemed like an enormous concrete venue.
But what can you do? Smile smile smile
Perhaps they had video rigs up and decided to release this, I am not sure.
Nice suprise for a 1st set LLR. The playing is solid. Second set is good but not as good (again in my opin) as the boys would crank out the following July.
3 stars and by now most people have the dvd or the album as a fellow commentator noted below.

Spectacular.
The recording isn't great, but this has become one of my favorite shows. It really sounds a lot better when jammed loud in a car. This is a great set-list. The space is abnormally good and blends nicely to a great "i will take you home." Decent touch, Jerry is great on terrapin. A nice when i paint my masterpiece and a great row jimmy. Brent is great through the whole show, very nice morning dew. Stagger Lee fits nice between masterpiece and LLR. Love Brent's vocals on Man smart, women smarter....I don't know guys, this is a great late 80's.

home town delight!
the show in foxborough 2 nights prior opend 1st set with
playin->crazy fingers(wow!!hows that for a set opener) ...the playin was just up to the jam where they cut it off and went into crazy fingers
and i waited the entire show for them to pop back
into the reprise but alas it was not to be.
Did they forget about it??? I have no idea.
but you can imagine my delight when 2 days later in my home town of Buffalo when the better part of the way through the second set the come creeping out of ship of fools to finish it off with the playin reprise!!!! yeah! Now thats a band! I dont know who else noticed it at the time
or later for that matter!? When i met back up w/friend after the show who had been with me in foxborough (who know there Dead) they seem to think i was off my rocker. but off course the tapes later upheld my version of this unusual occurence. I dont know if this has happend before
or after but i knew it happend that night.
being there i thought fox borrough was the better of the 2 shows but the tapes seem to indicate otherwise.

5 stars is really pushing it
Decent show by all means, really major screw-ups that I've noticed. But 5 stars is a serious stretch.
Jerry's voice is weary at this point, the tempo is down for a couple of tunes, and the whole set just feels like a mediocore late 80's show.
Levels aren't anything to write home about either.
I'm giving it 3 because while it's solid, it pales in comparison to a number of shows around here.

Better AUD
Of the two AUD sources on the archive at this time this is the better of the two, imo.
I had fun at this show and was pleasantly surprised with its power. I thought Rich Stadium in 1986 was rather weak but never really had high expectations for the GD"s high profile/stadium shows for that matter. Nonetheless I remember leaving with a good feeling from this one.
